Just thinking, doesn't alpha transparency require 32-bit graphics? Many people have their displays set to 16-bit graphics, no?

It's handled by the client since Atrinik 1.1

So you just set transparency via the Alpha channel and the client decides how the transparency is applied, using the alpha-channel bit of arches to denote transparency as a flag of sorts?
