Poll
Should we be allowed to label containers, such as bags, sacks, etc.?
Yes, definitely! That would be a great help.
Maybe
No, why makes things easier on players?

OK I know that comparing things to Dai is a little gauche but still, there's one thing I really miss from Dai that's not in Atrinik: Sara, the embroiderer.

We could take certain items to Sara and have her embroider them. That is, once they were embroidered with whatever text you choose, that text would show up on the item when you had it selected with the blue box, or when you examined it.

Thus, we could label our sacks "Attach Wands", "Pierce Weapons", "Stat Potions", "Cursed Rings" etc.

I'd much more prefer the 'rename command from Crossfire.

Well, however you implement it, would be nice to be able to have a method for all players to be able to 'label' containers and other items to better ID them ...  :D

Should mention that Sara is a bit imperfect.
Caused some bugs and trouble on test server.
And doesn't embroider much.
On the other hand, I don't know Crossfire that well.

Well considering that it was Smacky who implemented Sara, I'm not surprised that she was riddled with bugs. But on the main server, when she was released, she appears to be working without any issues ....

So what's the verdict Cleo, will we get the opportunity to label containers and other items in the game:?:

I may implement a similar command to Crossfire 'rename, which allows you to rename any item in the game, and it'll appear for other players as well, in your inventory, etc. Though upon examine the original name will show as well, if I recall correctly.

When examining the item, will the new name show along with the original name, or just the original name?

If both names show up, then I can live with that. But if only the original name shows up, that won't really be what I'm looking for ...

Both would show up, if I recall correctly, first the custom name, then in brackets the original name.

OK, then I could live with that. Where on the timeline would such an implementation fit in (if you don't mind my asking...)

Hint: the sooner someone adds it to the bug tracker, the less time it will take, usually. ;)
