Hiya

I note two upcoming events in Atrinik's calendar on the website.  Cinco de Mayo which always falls on 5th May and is a celebration of the Mexicans beating the French at puebes, or some game like that - that sounds fun :).  And Mother's day ?????  Excuse me - Mother's day is celebrated on numerous different days around the world - the Great British have already "done and dusted" that - are we going retrograde?

Heya Floozy,
It is true that many countries have different dates for such a day. I learnt in school that the UK and Ireland (Rep.) celebrated Mother's day on the Second Sunday of May, just like the vast majority of countries that actually celebrate it. I think that you are referring to Mothering Sunday, of which the date is related to Easter. It is commonly mixed up nowadays, even though they are not the same. This is what I was taught from Oxford/Cambridge books. As for my opinion, second Sunday of May is fine with me. :)
You are right when saying that some dates in the calendar are different in other countries. Another special day this month is Memorial day. In The Netherlands we have Remembrance day May 4. May 5 is our Liberation day. The calendar lists some other (interesting) dates, such as Talk Like A Pirate Day. Which, as you might know, introduced /pirate_say and /pirate_shout to the game ;)
