Heh, what I hate more is that windows doesn't support hardware changes. You can't install the drivers before the change (because they can't see their hardware in the pc next to it :P). For my PC this wasn't a problem, I needed to format the old disk anyway. But I had to back-up all data of the family pc's HDD in order to do a clean winxp install so it can run on my "old" pc.

You can actually do builds of Win XP that have the drivers loaded on the install CD and use them. I haven't done it in ages but it was pretty simple -- although I think only Win XP Pro had that option. If you'd like, I can try to hunt down the directions I used for you?

Keep the stock fan and heat sink...... put on an aftermarket one and use it..... if anything happens, they have no way of knowing whick fan/heatsink you were using....

Lippy suggested that as well. I'll just wait till I get my money for the websites, I'll buy a new screen too.

No thanks, I've done a clean install on both PCs.

Not in safe mode, and it's the only way it would "start".
